(4255) Spacewatch ist ein Asteroid des Γ€uΓeren HauptgΓΌrtels, der am 4. April 1986 im Rahmen des Spacewatch-Projektes am Kitt-Peak-Nationalobservatorium (IAU-Code 695) auf dem Kitt Peak im US-Bundesstaat Arizona entdeckt wurde.
Der Asteroid wurde nach dem Spacewatch-Projekt benannt.cite-ref-1[1]
Der HimmelskΓΆrper ist Mitglied der Schubart-Familie, einer wahrscheinlich vor 1,7 (Β± 0,7) Milliarden Jahren durch Kollision entstandenencite-ref-2[2] Gruppe von Asteroiden, die sich in einer Bahnresonanz von 3:2 mit dem Planeten Jupiter um die Sonne bewegt. Namensgeber dieser Gruppe ist der Asteroid (1911) Schubart.cite-ref-3[3]
